Buy points, or pay cash?

Hotel programs sell points, often at half price during sales. For an expensive night that can cost far less than the cash rate. Enter the points price and the cash price for the same nights.

When buying points makes sense

Buy for a stay you are about to book, after checking that the award night is available. Points bought to hold lose value whenever a program raises its award prices. Stays on points usually skip room tax, which is why the calculator adds tax to the cash side only. Resort fees can still apply at some hotels.
